Oil on canvas
160cm x 100cm
Painted with high quality oils on professional canvas. Varnished for life-long protection. Deep edges painted gallery black, so no need for framing.
Semi-surreal abstract landscape. The title comes from a recent dream in which I had a baby boy called 'Will'. It was metaphorical, symbolising a transition from reacting to circumstances and beginning to carve out a life-shape based on will.
Having studied Philosophy at university, I was intrigued by Schopenhauer's World as Will and Representation, although my view of will is far more optimistic. This painting represents my belief that humans have access to immense bounty and joy through acts of will and the self-determination given to us through grace.
