Think Like a Leopard
120cm x 150cm
Oil on Canvas
This oil painting is a playful piece about personality. It concerns the adage, 'A leopard never changes its spots' but seeks to flip the meaning to something positive regarding our genetic inheritance. Some might argue that there is no stable element to personality, but the artist wants to suggest that there are certain traits, which are present at birth and mark us throughout life. One trait the artist identifies in herself is a playfulness and love of adventure.
This large, statement piece is also inspired by Japanese calligraphy writing, seen in the loose ink brush strokes. The black areas are used to give contrast to the central element of the leopard signifiers, along with the script.
