This painting is a surreal depiction of the self.  To the right hand side is a solid object, half rock or perhaps an inverted iceberg.  It is the current, stable version of Self.  To the right old waves (former identities, memories, traumas) attempt to rise up but as they near the rock/self, they are transformed into brilliant white light. 
This is the action of the Holy Spirit.  I often paint the Holy Spirit in this vertical drops of white.  I am fascinated by the human psyche and the role memories can have; how we can be formed by them but through supernatural intervention can be utterly redefined.  The painting shows this battle in organic form.
