Gestural work, expressing liberation.  Naive brushstrokes have been left unrendered, unblended to signify raw energy.  The work came after a series of commissions with set briefs, so the artist had some pent up creative spirit, which needed to be transmitted rapidly to the canvas.  A series of considered underlayers give further depth to the overall effect.  The contrast of the deeper colours and the light is intended to convey a sense of emergence, of coming to the surface.  This is a signature piece.
