The title of this works suggests that there should be bright sunlight and verdant pastures but this work is based on a typical English summer day, late in August when the skies are atmospheric and blustering, when the ferns have begun to turn to burnished bronze and blackberries are coming into season. It is a slightly tongue-in-cheek comment on living in the English countryside and yet, also a celebration. I live in Sussex and having a very active dog spend hours every week out in the beautiful hills and woods here. Rain or shine, the English countryside is a blessing for which I am deeply grateful and to live somewhere with so many feasts for the eyes and soul, windy or otherwise and plenty of opportunities to get grounded.
