On the one hand, this painting seems like a traditional mountainscape with drifts of snow and light rising behind the peak.  However, the work felt restrained somehow and I wanted to make it more myself.  I introduced the bold sweep of Titanium White on the right side of the painting to make it more true to myself, more contemporary and free.  If you look through the body of my work, you will both elements of tradition with dashes of my personality alongside.  That is a more true note for me and is why I have called this work, 'Be Yourself'.
